The CODT license enables Financial Institutions (FIs) to transform their customized FIBO and other ontologies into data models, and to reverse-engineer their data models into RDF/OWL.

Exclusive offer
Currently, CODT is exclusively offered to Financial Institutions (FIs), which are commercial users of the FIBO Data Model.
In other words, you cannot obtain a CODT-only license without the Financial Industry Business Data Model (FIB-DM). The challenge is that CODT generates an identical copy of FIB-DM, which is intellectual property of Jayzed Data Models.
Add-on
The Financial Industry Business Data Model (FIB-DM) Licensees can purchase the CODT license as an add-on to their FIB-DM license.
This is the typical use case for midsize Financial Institutions that use the FIBO Data Model and want to start their first ontology projects. You can incorporate your customized enterprise and project FIB-DM-derived data models into your evolving enterprise ontology.
Bundle
New users can license FIB-DM and CODT together as a bundle.
This is a use case for large Banks and Investment Managers with a Semantic Center of Excellence, ontologies, and RDF Stores.
Rights to Patent and Software
The Jayzed Data Models Patent Rights License Agreement (PRLA) covers the Valid Claims, CODT Software, and licensee-created Products (data models & ontologies):
- Patent No. 12,038,939 License to develop, make, have made, use, and import Licensed CODT Software and Products within the Licensee’s Organization or Group (PRLA #2).
- Modified Works – The licensee’s right to expand CODT, for example, to customize MDS and to develop Tool-Specific MDS for data or object modeling tools and software (PRLA #3.1).
- Secondary Works: The licensee may port the CODT Software to their ETL environments and retain the sole copyright to their code (PRLA #3.2).
- CODT Products – The licensee retains the title to Information Models that the Licensee produces with the CODT Software or Intellectual Property claimed in the CODT Patent. In other words, you have sole ownership of the models you generate with CODT.
3rd Party prohibition
The Rights to Patent and Software are limited to your organization (PRLA #2).
In other words, you must not share CODT Software, your derived works, or generated data models and ontologies with 3rd parties outside your FI.
License type
The CODT license is perpetual and global.
That means the CODT group license is a one-time investment that covers subsidiaries worldwide.
Maintenance
The CODT Software (Metadata Sets, SPARQL queries, and 4GL code) has not changed since 2022. Only configuration parameters get adjusted for the quarterly FIBO transformations: changes in FIBO annotation properties, duplicate local names, and inverse properties.
So, Maintenance is optional. Some Enterprise Data Architecture Groups may find it helpful to compare their transformed data models to the official FIB-DM release and its configuration settings.
Pricing
The CODT license fee is 50% of the current FIB-DM license fee.

The FIB-DM license price for a mid-tier Financial Institution is $59,000. Hence, the CODT add-on is $29,500, or $88,500 for the FIB-DM/CODT bundle.
